Åstorp Dogue de Bordeaux meeting 30 July 2005

It has been a wonderful weekend. We left home Friday afternoon and arrived at Kalle and Carina in Åstorp around 2100, a bit sooner than expected. We met up with Ole, Amy and their little son Gard whom were also staying with Kalle and Carina. We all went out for a nice dinner and then went to bed to feel up for the big meeting the following day. On Saturday we woke up to a lovely breakfast, and afterwards we went to the meeting. First it was the SDBK-meeting for members and after that we had the meeting with all the dogue-owners. We had time to meet everyone and chat a little before it was time for the "competitions". They had made a circle where they put down treats and the point was to go with your dog off the leash to the first post where it should sit down. Then continued to next stop for the "down" command. The dogue with the best time won, and that was no other than Doguehill's own Singha. Panama was number two and Elisabeth with Kleo got third place. The "fastest dog" contest was won by Boss - Effis sister.

Sara arranged ringtraining for those who felt they needed a little practise, and I joined in with Effi too. Everyone did great, and we had a lot of fun. After the games and the training it was time for some food. Kalle provided the barbeques and we had all bought our own food. Despite a little rain now and then we all had a great time, and if someone didn't they can only blame themselves.:-)

Sara and Victoria had baked a big basket full of cakes for the dogues. I also got a couple home with me to Damien and Hazel that had to stay behind. The cakes were a big hit, and I didn't see any dogue that didn't want to eat it. My dogues went crazy and wanted more and more - so Sara, I'm gonna need that receipe.;-)
