Diary 2010

20 February:

Here's a small update. The days goes by as usual, and in the evening we are watching the Olympic games. Usually I'm not that interested in sports, but some things are very fun. :-)) The Norwegians are doing better and better, so GO NORWAY! :-)))

The dogues are mostly doing fine. I checked Donatella again the other day as she's been limping a little bit, and her knee makes a loud popping sound when she walks the stairs. Unfortunately she has arthrosis, and that is expected after surgery but I think it came very fast. She's now on painkillers, special diet and we also give her a treatment at the veterinarian to see if that might help her. She's in very good spirit, so happy and playful so it's not holding her back too much.
The rest of the gang is doing fine. Netta and Donatella are back to normal again, and I am happy about that. So sad to see them so depressed. Luckily dogs adapt very quickly.

Not much exciting news, the days goes by as normal. I showed Hellga a little while ago at a National show not far from me. This time she got 1st in quality but didn't go further. Can't expect all judges to like my dogs, so I take it for what it is. :-) The coming months will be very quiet, we don't have any plans before Summer. Our three youngest needs time to mature. I do have plans to go and watch a couple of shows, so I'm looking forward to that.

That's all for now. Have a good weekend and enjoy the snow. ;-)

4 February:

February already.......the year started good with cac, cacib and SUCH for the gorgeous Adrienne. Her owner Annika and I went one week to Puerto Rico and enjoyed ourselves very much with great food and fantastic weather. It felt good, and it was nice to have something to look forward to in January - one of the worst months for me. So boring after all the Christmas-celebrations, and the summer seems so far away. Unfortunately the joy didn't last very long. I was home on a Thursday, and the following Sunday evening Hazel began to walk around. She sounded very restless, so I went down to check on her. Her belly was huge and I took her outside to see if she would throw up. She didn't so I called the vet and said I was coming over. We got some gas out of her by using a needle between the ribs. We could hear the air come out, and saw the needle turn as the belly moved. She was a bit more comfortable now, so we did an x-ray. It showed lots of gas, some food and unfortunately that the belly began twisting again. She had an operation last year where they stitched the tummy to the ribs, but obviously it was unsuccessful. We couldn't do more for her. While she was laying on her back being scratched on her tummy, she got a shot to relax her. She went to sleep and snored really high. Poor thing was exhausted. Then she got the first shot with the poison. All the time I cuddled with her and whispered to her. Suddenly she was quiet - I didn't even register it at first. I said my last words to her and then I had to go. We have asked for separate cremation, so she will be back home with us in two-three weeks. It is very hard now, and I feel so sorry for Donatella and Netta. Netta is so depressed but luckily she gets happy if we go outside and play. Donatella wants to be with us all the time.

We take the opportunity to thank you all for the phones, e-mails, greetings in our guestbook and on facebook. We really appreciate it.

We try to live a normal life. After all we have 10 dogs that needs their daily care. Luckily they are all doing fine and are enjoying being outside playing now that the temperature is a bit more normal. We began our trips in the woods again. But yesterday I tripped......or should I say, I forgot that there were two steps down....so I sprained my ankle - boy does it hurt! Now I'm already much better, so I think I'll be fine in a couple of days or so. I already had an appointment at my doctor so she checked the ankle and put on a bandage for support. It's a good thing my car is an automatic, or I wouldn't have been able to go.

Last weekend I went to a show with Hellga. It was very short after losing Hazel so the mood wasn't that good, but I needed to get out of the house so I decided to go. It was a two-day show nearby. We were first breed in the ring and Hellga got what she came for. Now we had to wait for the finals at the end of the day. We knew the cances of getting picked was very small but it's good exercise for her. She was a bit tired at the end of the day, but so was I. The air gets very thick in that hall and the volume is really loud. We had a nice day with nice company, and Hellga got some biskets, a pigear and a toy so she was happy in her cage. I didn't go the next day as I was ill, but all in all it was a good weekend. Next weekend there is another show, so I am looking forward to that.

Enjoy the weekend. I hope to bring some new pics on here if the weather is good. :-)

9 January:

Welcome back to the diary. We are excited to see what the new year will bring us. We had a great start as our breeding Masque Marron's Adrienne aka Tone got CAC, CACIB, best female and became Swedish Champion on the 7th. We are of course very happy and proud, and once again big congrats to her owners Annika and Svein. Thank you for taking such good care of her. :-) She was entered two days, but since she got her championtitle the first day, her owners decided not to bring her the second day. In stead we celebrated her with champagne and went out to a nice dinner. Tone was in the hotelroom relaxing and enjoying her pigear, merrowbone and new toy. :-) A good day for all of us. Also big congrats to Kennel Doguehill's who got BOB with their imported male from England. A nice boy who I think will win a lot.

Hope all of you have had a nice Holday. We've taken it very nice and quiet. There weren't too much fireworks on New Years and the doggies didn't mind it at all. We enjoyed the evening with good food and got up early in the new year. Like so many other places, it is really cold here now. Usually around -30. This means the doggies can't be outside for more than a few minutes, and of course they are a bit bored. They said on TV it will be milder next week so it's looking promising.
I will enjoy summer-weather again this coming week as my friend Annika and I are taking one week in the sun. I am so thankful to my husband for staying home and making it possible for me to go. :-)

Wish you all a good week, and hope this year brings you lots of happiness.
